The Amazing World of 3D Graphics

By James J. Grant

Three dimensional graphics are objects done in computers. These are images of arithmetical data stored in a computer for calculation purposes and for rendering two dimensional images. 3D images are done for immediate display. 3D graphics also depend on the same algorithms as in 2D graphics. When using any software for computer graphics, the difference between a two dimensional and three dimensional graphics is distorted because 2D functions can make use of 3D methods to get an effect like the lighting if the image. Also, 3D graphics can be rendered using 2D rendering methods. 3D graphics are also sometimes referred to as 3D models. The difference is that 3D models are contained in the file with graphical data and that 3D models are numerical representations of all three dimensional items. Models are not considered as graphics until it is presented visually. 3D models are not restricted to practical space. Any model can be seen visually as a 2D image by undergoing the procedure of 3D rendering. It can also be used for calculations and for computer simulations that are non-graphical.

Doing 3D computer graphics is successively divided into three parts. The part that defines the shape of the object is called 3D modeling. The models used come from two sources. One is originating from some kind of modeling device in a computer used by an artist or an engineer and the sources that are scanned to a computer coming from an actual object. The part that defines the movements and position of the objects within the setting is called layouting and animation. Before rendering the object, it must be positioned in the setting. The positioning defines the spatial relationship of the object considering its place and size.

On the other hand, animation is defined as the chronological description of any object meaning the way the object moves and distort over time. The procedure is done by outlining the number of rays a reflection can take and also considering other aspects that can be adapted to have the preferred visual effects. The last part of creating 3D graphics is the part where the image of the object is produced. This is called rendering. Rendering is the process of converting the model to become an image through the process of simulating the transport of light to achieve images that are photo realistic. The artist can also include some styles in the image by using non-photorealistic rendering. The operations concerning realistic rendering considers how the light comes from a place to another and how the light relates to the surfaces. It is truly amazing how 3D graphics can easily project an entirely different universe, a world where anything is possible and is embedded in the imaginative minds of 3D animators and movie creators.

Affordable Rendering Programs For Designers

By Shen Gerald

If you are a designer who does a good amount of 3D stuffs, you will need a good rendering software programs.

Fortunately, there are more and more affordable packages. In fact, there are even free alternatives for 3D rendering. These 3D rendering systems are quite useful and handy for design works such as product design, interior visualisation, exhibition as well as jewellery design.

Below listed are some of the free 3D rendering software that can be downloaded off the World Wide Web.

1. Indigo. Indigo is a free, physically-based unbiased rendering engine that employs advanced features such as Metropolis Light Transport, Spectral light calculus, a virtual camera model, physical sky and more. It is capable of producing renderings that are extremely realistic. The negative aspect is that rendering can be quite slow for good results.

2. Yafray. YafRay is a powerful LGPL licensed raytracing renderer. Its feature includes Full Global Ilumination, Skydome Ilumination, Caustics, Depth of Field (DOF) and HDRI Ilumination
hdri. However, its development has stopped but is being recoded as a newer program known as Yafaray.

3. Kerkythea. It is one of the free renders that sports a user friendly GUI.

4. POVray. It is the short form for The Persistence of Vision Raytracer. This is an old raytracing program that is still fully capable of producing very stunning images.

5. Truespace. As of this writing, Truespace has been released as a free program. This is incredible news as Truespace is an extremely capable and powerful 3D application. It can do much more than just rendering. It can model and animate as well.

Well, these are the available free 3D renderers. Hope that this article is of good use.

Welcome to the World of Realistic Renovation in 3D

By Allan Massey

Many a people are willing to renovate their present homes into something different both internally and externally but lack the idea on how to do it. They think that to redecorate their house they need to buy fresh paints and other building materials to do so. In these technologically advanced times it is possible to renovate without these raw materials. Using 3d interior design one can experiment with colors, interior textures, designs and more without having to buy a single raw material. This feat is achieved within the comforts of home and using a computer. You need not approach any improvement firm nor do you have to search for designers and architects who will suggest ways to refurbish your home.

3d rendering is utilized to spawn 3 dimensional outlooks for any entity. This technique has allowed architects to visualize various concepts on TV or computer and is not multifarious at all. The visualization is so clear and perfect that the architect industry swears by it and is so realistic for various ideas and concepts that you can actually foresee how your house or office will look in the future. This allows playing with your imaginations just sitting in front of your computer and generating designs that too at no cost. Professional architect 3d services providers use 3d renderings for many things including landscaping projects, floor designing, lighting effects, exterior designs and interior designs. They are beneficial as they provide high quality presentation, full project apparition, higher productivity, foretaste for interiors and exteriors and faultless models.

Redecorating your house or office can be managed by using 3d interior design works which offers many applications. Starting with the basics you can place doors and windows at various locations of your choice and then you can experiment with the placement of various furniture, the lighting effects, fixtures, colors of walls, design of floor etc. There are various websites which offer these features which come in pre-existing templates, textures, colors, designs and materials. These are targeted towards newbie who explore various facets of interior designing, the selections and apparatus available. For many designers, architects even amateurs this is the favored alternative as the material demonstration in this 3d work will be to the precise level and position as the real life models they characterize. All factual time circumstances will be perfectly demonstrated including strict position of windows, electrical outlets, doors and many distinctive architectural elements. It helps in visualizing your thoughts yourself and can save lots of money in the long run and gives ample scope for experimentation.

3D Rendering for Sales - Why Bother?

By Ben P Powell

There are just about as many sales presentation styles as there are salespeople - it seems like just about everyone has their own opinion of what works and what doesn't. One particularly interesting tool that is finding itself increasingly in-use during sales presentations is the virtual model. A virtual model is usually a computer representation of a product that is rendered using complex 3D graphics technology to create a realistic mock-up of the product in a virtual environment.

But is 3D sales technology for everyone? Even if you CAN use it in your presentations... should you? There are a number of reasons why 3D sales presentation technology is particularly useful and (most will agree) can be used in just about any sales process.

The first reason that 3D rendering is a great option for sales proposals is that compared to real-world prototyping, it is quite often cheaper. This will of course depend on the product itself; 3D sales tools are very handy where the initial outlay for a prototype model is either very expensive or simply not possible (for example, in the property development market).

Another reason for using interactive sales tools is that they are (in most situations) less risky to create than going ahead and investing the time and effort in creating a prototype. For example, it would be must easier to create a 3D model of a new car model than to go ahead and build it from the ground up. If the sale is not successful, the only thing that has been wasted is the time (and possibly a small amount of money) invested in creating the virtual model. This is typically much less than what would have been required to build a real-life model.

Interactive sales tools also have another added benefit - you can set your OWN terms for the sales presentation. Because the presentation is happening in a 3D model of the world, you can be reassured in the knowledge that the prototype will not malfunction or break during the presentation. You can even script your proposals down to the last detail so that no unexpected problems surface during the presentation.

Finally, interactive sales tools provide the "wow" factor that can have a powerful effect on your prospects. Provided your 3D presentation has been created by a reputable sales tools expert, you can guarantee that your presentation will look professional and aesthetically stunning. This can make even a GREAT product look that much better.

So, based on the cost effectiveness, lack of risk, level of control and 'wow' factor of 3D sales presentations, you can safely say that they are a great choice for most sales-teams requirements. 3D Rendering is quickly becoming another typical tool in the belt of an effective sales team; so don't delay! See how 3D sales proposal technology can help you increase your bottom line.

Light, God's eldest daughter, is a principal beauty in a building.
Thomas Fuller

I don't think of form as a kind of architecture. The architecture is the result of the forming. It is the kinesthetic and visual sense of position and wholeness that puts the thing into the realm of art.
Roy Lichtenstein

Architect. One who drafts a plan of your house, and plans a draft of your money.
Ambrose Bierce

An architect should live as little in cities as a painter. Send him to our hills, and let him study there what nature understands by a buttress, and what by a dome.
John Ruskin

Ah, to build, to build! That is the noblest art of all the arts. Painting and sculpture are but images, are merely shadows cast by outward things on stone or canvas, having in themselves no separate existence. Architecture, existing in itself, and not in seeming a something it is not, surpasses them as substance shadow.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

No architecture is so haughty as that which is simple.
John Ruskin

We may live without her, and worship without her, but we cannot remember without her. How cold is all history, how lifeless all imagery, compared to that which the living nation writes, and the uncorrupted marble bears!
John Ruskin

All architecture is great architecture after sunset; perhaps architecture is really a nocturnal art, like the art of fireworks.
Gilbert Keith Chesterton

No person who is not a great sculptor or painter can be an architect. If he is not a sculptor or painter, he can only be a builder.
John Ruskin

Believe me, that was a happy age, before the days of architects, before the days of builders.
Lucius Annaeus Seneca

A structure becomes architectural, and not sculptural, when its elements no longer have their justification in nature.
Guillaume Apollinaire

When we build, let us think that we build for ever.
John Ruskin

All fine architectural values are human values, else not valuable.
Frank Lloyd Wright
