Use Auto CAD Rendering For Better 2D Visualization of 3D Models

By Prahlad Parmar

Rendering can be a very tricky and time-consuming phase of a project. In the past, you might waste more time generate a rendering than you spent actually building the 3D model. Additionally, when you work with several light resources, each of which casts shadows, the computer calculations demands a substantial amount of horsepower!

Rendering generates a 2D image based on your 3D model. It shades the model or scene's geometry using the materials you've used, the lighting you've set up and surrounding settings such as fog and background. There have been rendering tools present in AutoCAD for many years, allowing users to create photo-realistic images encompassing multiple light sources, materials and entourage objects such as people and trees, with constant revisions (2008, 2009, etc) to make it better for the rendering community since its release.

The new AutoCAD rendering tools make it easier than ever before to add lights and materials to your 3D models so that you can produce realistic renderings. There are also additional commands that make it easy to walk or fly through your 3D models, something that was not possible at all in earlier releases.

The process of creating a rendering using AutoCAD requires four steps:

- Create the actual 3D model
- Position lights
- Affix materials to objects in the model
- Render the 2D image

Other than generating the model, these procedures are conceptual rather than separate sequential steps and mostly performed as an iterative process. For example, you may position some lights and generate a test rendering. Then, after analyzing the results of the test, you may alter some of the lights and render new 2D image again.

AutoCAD can now display 3D models with realistic lighting, materials and shadows. AutoCAD has five pre-defined visual styles - 2D wireframe, 3D wireframe, 3D hidden, Conceptual and Realistic - and you can add and produce your own custom visual styles. When you choose the realistic visual style, AutoCAD displays your model with shadows and materials. AutoCAd Rendering adds more realism to those materials as well as showing reflection, refraction and the true effects of lighting bringing your vision to life!

Structural 3D Modeling For Accurate 3D Models

By Kelvin Aniston

Structural models are considered as template models of any building structure. It gives an exact visualization of your proposed building structure and 3D modeling is solely the process of creating a mathematical, wire frame representation of any three dimensional object using specialized computer software. It is used to create accurate and quick 3D models design.

Structural 3D modeling is a part of structural engineering services and can be identified as the process of developing a mathematical, wire frame representation of any 3D object using specialized computer techniques. It is used in development of excellent building models, custom residential structural models and Structural modeling for various types of buildings such as residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

The creation of a balanced structural 3D model is a collection of detailed steps, starting with a sketch-up of object. Structural modeling is all about creating accurate and reliable building 3D models as per required criteria. Structural 3D modeling is used for creating accurate structural building models of various building components and structural 3D models of various building structures play a decisive role for builders, contractors and architects to build their proposed building structures more effectively.

Structural modeling helps to find specific volumes of component and that allows builders or contractors to understand about how much material and component will be needed. It is also helpful for making 3D exterior views, 3D interior view with dimensional specifications, landscape structural design models and structural equation modeling.

Your CAD Company is sure to get a great advantage over your market rivals in areas like improved usability, lowered production costs and more appealing products as well as various other competitive benefits with the help of accurate 3D models.

3D Visualization - Sell Today What You Build Tomorrow

By Cristian Ignat

Although it's not rocket science, not everyone knows what 3D architectural rendering is. As the name tells off, 3D rendering is a three-dimensional view of an object. In this case, the object can be a building or a house that has to be built. Not too long ago, architectural plans were presented in a 2D view because the technology wasn't as complex as it is today. Nowadays, 2D visualizations aren't nearly as impressive and exciting as 3D renderings, which is why they slowly but surely disappear. 3D architectural visualization offers the chance to play with your imagination and to get a more comprehensive impression of what your building will look like.

Architectural visualization is possible by using a rendering module that helps you view your project from different angles and also allows you to perform changes if needed. Computer rendering uses virtual images that are created from original designs. These virtual images help you visualize our home as if you were actually inside. You will be able to see your house in all its carefully planned details: from ceilings to floors, from walls to doors, from fixtures to furniture and surrounding landscape. Adding an animated feature to the whole concept and you will be able to manipulate pictures, move videos back and forward and obtain the desired look.

As expected, not anyone can generate such models. Architectural rendering requires technical expertise in animation and multimedia manipulation. It takes imagination, creativity and technical knowledge to master the art of architectural rendering.

A great plus of 3D architectural visualization is that, if changes need to be made, they can be incorporated immediately, even after the model is approved. All the intricate aspects related to the design of the rooms, lifts, stairs, surroundings, paints and color schemes can be edited and presented in videos in even the smallest detail. This isn't possible in manually drawn models.

Benefits of Using 3D CAD Design & 3D Modeling Compared to 2D Method

By Richard M Bothom

There are several key benefits of using 3D CAD design and CAD 3D modeling in Civil, Mechanical and Architectural industry. Key benefits include simplicity, automation and interactive analysis. Integrating CAD systems with Enterprise Resource Planning systems create highly efficient design process across organization.

Using 3D CAD modeling engineer can greatly improve design quality because it is far more comprehensive process than 2D design. Hence, many human errors that can occur with conventional 2D design methods are avoided. The designer who uses 2D method has to hold much of the information mentally. With 3D environment he/she can visualize whole structure or product with real-life simulation and can avoid errors such as member collisions and incorrect quantities. Reducing human errors minimizes the need for re-work, improves overall design quality and saves costs.

With 2D views, projections might show a specific member in several different views while other members might be completely omitted to maintain drawing precision. This results in poor quantity estimation. With 3D design modeling material estimation process becomes simple because items are represented as they occur in the design. As long as a CAD 3D design is created as a true to life model, designer gets quantities with exact accuracy.

Communication of design intent among different departments is greatly improved by using 3D CAD modeling. With 2D method, non technical people have to wait for a prototype design before they can clearly understand the project. Since CAD 3D modeling generates pictorial views along with conventional projections, the design intent can clearly be understood by anyone. This helps in effectively communicate 3D modeling design and improve inter-departmental understanding earlier in the project cycle, thus saving time and minimize human errors. Customer presentations, manufacturing and technical publications all benefit from this.

A very substantial and up-to-date approach can be realized by using 3D AutoCAD modeling - particularly in the eyes of client. 3D models are increasingly being used by Manufactures, fabricators and contractors for getting accurate drawings and renderings of product/architecture/structure design.

Outsourcing 3D CAD modeling services offer many advantages such as less infrastructure, competitive edge, less cost, leverage expert help, reliability and security. That is why 3D CAD design outsourcing is the most common among AEC industry today.
